The Focus on the Family Unit Initiative—powered through the generous support of The Foundation, USA—has continued to make impact among children, parents, and families across Kenya and Uganda. Through this partnership, Mama Africa Book Box has strengthened its mission to nurture reading culture, build strong family bonds, and raise a generation grounded in Christian values.
This report highlights the progress, milestones, and impact achieved in 2025.
Using literature to disciple the family unit across Africa through children’s books, parenting mentorship, marriage strengthening, and community reading culture.
Reflections from the team serving families through books, mentorship, and media.
As I reflect on the journey of Mama Africa Book Box in 2025, I am filled with deep gratitude—for God’s faithfulness, for the families we have walked with, and for the quiet but powerful work happening in homes across Africa.
This year reaffirmed a conviction that has shaped MABB from the beginning: the family remains God’s primary classroom, and books remain one of the most effective tools for discipleship, formation, and legacy. In a world competing fiercely for the attention of our children, choosing to place wholesome, faith-rooted literature in their hands is both a spiritual act and a generational investment.
Through the Focus on the Family Unit Initiative, we witnessed children discovering joy in reading, parents becoming more intentional about discipleship, and families reclaiming shared moments around stories, Scripture, and conversation. Some of the fruit was immediate—confidence, creativity, curiosity. Other fruit will take years to fully mature. And that is all right. We are building for the long term.
Not everything unfolded as planned, yet every challenge sharpened our discernment and strengthened our resolve. We learned to adapt, to listen more closely to families, and to lean into digital spaces where children are already gathering. We also saw God quietly at work—opening doors, affirming the vision, and even shaping the calling of those serving within the project.
What encourages me most is this: we are no longer convincing families that reading matters. They are telling us. They are showing up. They are asking for more. And they are raising children who are growing up with books as companions of faith, not strangers on a shelf.
As we look ahead, our commitment remains the same—to steward this work with integrity, humility, and obedience to God’s leading. Thank you for walking this journey with us. The story is still being written, and by God’s grace, the next chapters will be even richer.

In 2025, my role as Media Director for Mama Africa Book Box was shaped by one guiding conviction: stories deserve to be seen as well as read. Through videography, photography, and the early foundations of animation, our aim was to visually capture the heart of what God is doing through families, children, and books across our communities.
This year, we focused on documenting moments that matter—children discovering the joy of reading, parents engaging intentionally, and families gathering around stories that shape faith and character. Every photograph, video clip, and recorded session became a tool for testimony, preserving evidence of growth, transformation, and shared learning.
One of the most exciting developments was laying the groundwork for animation and digital storytelling. While still in its early stages, this step marked a significant shift toward meeting children where they are—within digital spaces—while ensuring that the content they encounter remains African-centred, faith-rooted, and age-appropriate. Animation opens a new door for creativity, imagination, and discipleship, and we are grateful to have begun this journey.
Our media work also strengthened connection. Visual storytelling allowed families who could not attend physical gatherings to still feel part of the MABB community, reinforcing a sense of belonging and shared purpose.
As we look ahead, our commitment remains clear: to steward media with excellence, integrity, and intentionality—using every frame, image, and story to glorify God and amplify the work He is doing through Mama Africa Book Box.

Media Director, Mama Africa Book Box (MABB)
Serving as the Program Coordinator for Mama Africa Book Box in 2025 has been both a privilege and a deeply humbling experience. This year allowed us to see, up close, how intentional reading and mentorship can quietly but powerfully shape children, families, and entire communities.
Behind every book distributed and every session convened were countless conversations, careful planning, and consistent follow-up with families. We listened closely to parents, observed how children engaged with stories, and adjusted our approaches to meet real-life rhythms. What stood out most was the eagerness of children—not just to receive books, but to be seen, heard, and guided. Their curiosity, questions, and creativity continually reminded us why this work matters.
One of the most encouraging developments this year was the growth of MABB Online (MABB-O). What began as a simple trial quickly became a thriving space where children could gather regularly, read together, and learn in a safe, faith-centred environment. For many families, these sessions removed barriers of distance and logistics, proving that meaningful discipleship can happen even beyond physical spaces.
We also learned valuable lessons. Coordinating programmes across different regions and family schedules required flexibility, patience, and collaboration. While not every plan unfolded as expected, each challenge sharpened our systems and strengthened our resolve to serve with excellence.
I am grateful for the families who trusted us, the children who showed up with open hearts, and the team that worked tirelessly behind the scenes. As we move into the next season, we carry forward not only the lessons learned, but a renewed commitment to serve families with compassion, integrity, and faith.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Together, we are planting seeds that will bear fruit for generations to come.

Program Coordinator, Mama Africa Book Box (MABB)
Being part of Mama Africa Book Box in 2025 has been a journey of purpose, growth, and quiet miracles. Serving as the Administrative Assistant allowed me to witness the heart of this work—not only in plans and systems, but in the lives of children and families who showed up, read together, and grew together.
From coordinating weekly schedules and managing communication to supporting children’s programmes and online sessions, my role placed me at the intersection of people and process. What stood out most was how consistency—showing up week after week—created trust. Children remembered names, parents followed conversations, and families stayed connected because there was order, care, and reliability behind the scenes.
One of the highlights of this year was supporting MABB Online (MABB-O). Watching children log in faithfully, eager to read and participate, reaffirmed the value of creating structured digital spaces that are safe, joyful, and rooted in faith. It was especially rewarding to see how organisation and clarity enabled creativity and engagement to flourish.
This year also shaped me personally. Through the responsibilities entrusted to me, I discovered a deeper sense of calling and purpose in serving families through administration and children’s engagement. It reminded me that every role—no matter how behind-the-scenes—has eternal value when done unto the Lord.
I am grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside a dedicated team and for the families who entrusted us with their children. As we look ahead, I am excited to continue supporting this work with excellence, humility, and faith.

Being part of Mama Africa Book Box in 2025 has shown me that printing is more than ink on paper—it is about bringing stories to life in ways that children can hold, read, and treasure. As Head of Printing, my role focused on ensuring that both black-and-white and full-colour books were produced with care, clarity, and consistency, so that every child receives a book that is readable, engaging, and durable.
This year, we worked to balance quality and accessibility. Black-and-white books allowed us to reach more families affordably, while full-colour titles added depth, beauty, and excitement—especially for younger readers and illustrated stories. Each format served a purpose, helping us meet children at different reading stages while stewarding resources wisely.
What stood out most was seeing how children interacted with the printed books—colouring pages carefully, rereading favourite stories, and proudly sharing books with siblings and friends. It reminded me that printing is not the final step of a process, but the beginning of a child’s relationship with a story.
Serving in this role also taught me responsibility, attention to detail, and the importance of excellence, even in tasks that may seem technical. Every page mattered because every child matters.
I am grateful to be part of a team that values books not just as products, but as tools for faith, learning, and imagination. As we continue to grow, I look forward to producing even more stories that will shape young hearts and minds for years to come.

Serving as the Bookshop Attendant for Mama Africa Book Box in 2025 placed me at the very heart of where stories meet people. My role in distributing books to parents and children across Kenya and Uganda allowed me to witness, firsthand, the joy, curiosity, and hope that books bring into families.
Each interaction—whether handing a book to a child or guiding a parent through a selection—was an opportunity to encourage reading and meaningful engagement at home. Many parents shared how access to carefully curated books made it easier to introduce reading routines and faith-based conversations within their families. For children, receiving a book was often met with excitement and pride, reinforcing the value of reading as something special and worth cherishing.
Book distribution also required attentiveness and organisation, especially when serving diverse communities and coordinating across different locations. Ensuring that the right books reached the right families, on time and in good condition, was a responsibility I carried with care.
What stayed with me most was seeing how books became bridges—connecting parents and children, sparking conversations, and opening doors to imagination and learning. It was a reminder that simple acts, done faithfully, can have lasting impact.
I am grateful for the opportunity to serve families through this role and to be part of a mission that places books, faith, and families at the centre. I look forward to continuing this work as more children and parents discover the joy of reading together.
