Understanding CLC Kenya’s Writing Class for Children & Young Adults:
At CLC Kenya, we are passionate about enabling and empowering children and young adults towards writing their stories. Here’s a breakdown of how the class work:

___
Course Structure & Curriculum
1. What is the structure of the writing class?
The course is self-paced, allowing writers to engage with content at their own speed. All the instructional videos are availed at the start, guiding students through the core aspects of Christian writing.
2. How does the course accommodate different learning styles or paces?
Since it is self-paced, writers can revisit lessons, pause when needed, and move forward only when they are confident—offering an inclusive approach for both fast and slow learners.
3. What is the difference between the Free Track and Mentorship Program option?
Free Track
- Students get free access to pre-recorded video lessons.
- The course is self-paced, meaning learners can go through the lessons on their own time.
- Ideal for children and teens who have financial hinderances, but are self-motivated or have active parental/guardian involvement.
- There is no direct supervision or personalised guidance from the facilitators.
- Parents are encouraged to support the learner by following the parent introductory unit, helping to create structure and accountability at home.
- Completely free of charge, making it accessible to many families regardless of budget.
Mentorship Program
- Learners are placed in a mentorship track, which includes monthly one-on-one or group sessions with an experienced writing mentor.
- Facilitators help guide each child based on their writing progress, strengths, and challenges.
- Unlike the free track, the mentorship program offers personalised feedback, editing suggestions, and encouragement tailored to the child’s writing submissions.
- Children in the mentorship program are guided above the actual writing, including author branding, exposure to publishing processes and communities.
- Regular check-ins keep learners accountable and consistent, reducing the chance of procrastination.
- The mentorship program involves a monthly fee to cover the costs of facilitator time, feedback, and writing support.
