CLC Kenya has received a Co-Mission Award from YouVersion, presented during the launch of YouVersion’s Kenya Hub at the JW Marriott Hotel, Nairobi.
The recognition honours CLC Kenya for exemplifying the spirit of co-mission through creativity, collaboration, and innovation, acknowledging how the organisation’s teamwork and approach have strengthened Bible engagement efforts and encouraged YouVersion’s regional team to “dream bigger” and “think differently” in serving communities with God’s Word.
The award, presented by YouVersion founder Bobby Gruenewald, was received by Dr. Muthoni Omukhango on behalf of the CLC Kenya Team, together with the wider community served through CLC Kenya’s initiatives—particularly the African Christian Authors Book Award (ACABA)
network, serving approximately 3,000 authors across 23 Anglophone African countries, and Mama Africa Book Box (MABB), which serves children, teenagers, and families across Africa.
Speaking after the awarding, Dr. Omukhango expressed gratitude for the growing partnership with YouVersion East Africa, noting that YouVersion is helping amplify African Christian voices by providing a global platform where Scripture-rooted content can reach readers beyond borders.
“YouVersion’s work helps people engage Scripture daily,” she noted, “and we are encouraged to see African authors and families finding room at the table—at scale and with excellence.”
Partnership progress: three accounts and more than 30 plans in four months
Dr. Omukhango specifically appreciated Joe Gachira, Flavia Murugi, Henrika Amoafo and the YouVersion Kenya Hub team for the support that enabled CLC Kenya and its initiatives to open three accounts on YouVersion and upload over 30 Bible plans in the past four months.
YouVersion’s Kenya Hub is part of YouVersion’s wider global hubs model—local teams designed to strengthen regional partnerships, curate relevant content, and support community outreach so more people can connect with Scripture daily.
Recognising the bridge-builders behind the work
Dr. Omukhango also acknowledged key individuals and partners who have contributed to the journey:
James Pitman and the CLC USA team, for introducing the YouVersion opportunity to CLC Kenya in August 2025.
The Foundation, USA, for sustained support and funding over the last six years, strengthening both ACABA and MABB’s continental reach.
CLC Kenya’s missioners and volunteers (approximately 80 people) whose service advances the mandate of impacting lives through Christian literature.
African Authors who have entrusted CLC Kenya to serve their publishing journeys, and parents who have allowed their children to participate in MABB Online.
Gary Chamberlin, the CLC International Director, for his steady and “effortless” encouragement of African authorship growth over the past five years.

YouVersion is widely known for developing digital tools that help people and Churches engage Scripture, while partnering with content creators and ministries to distribute Bible-centred resources across many languages and contexts.
