African Christian Voices Take Centre Stage in Read With Me’s Continental Reading Club
September 2026 brings together 17 African Christian authors from three countries through Read With Me, in partnership with YouVersion East Africa.
NAIROBI, KENYA — September 2026 — Mama Africa Book Box (MABB), through its Read With Me initiative, has unveiled its September 2026 selection of Bible reading plans, bringing African Christian voices to readers through the YouVersion Bible App.
This month’s collection features inspiring plans across Young Adults, Family & Gender, Business & Leadership, Christian Living, Biographies & Testimonies, and Mental Health. Together, the plans speak into ordinary, and sometimes very complicated places of life: choosing relationships wisely, waiting for God, navigating burnout, preparing for marriage, finding purpose after retirement, receiving mentorship, recognising God’s voice and learning to live faithfully when culture is pulling in another direction.
The September Read With Me selection brings together 17 African Christian authors from three African countries, creating an opportunity for readers across Africa and beyond to encounter Scripture through voices, experiences and questions that emerge from the continent.
From Friendship to Burnout, Marriage to Mentorship
For young adults, September begins with questions of identity, relationships and direction.
Dr. Muthoni Omukhango explores the freedom of refusing to shape one’s life around cultural approval in The Liberty of Being Unfashionable. Patrick Omukhango examines relationships that restrict rather than strengthen us in Snare Friendships: Recognizing Relationships That Bind You, while Jackline Ingasian invites readers to grow in discernment through Hearing God's Voice and Following His Direction.
The Family & Gender category turns towards relationships, marriage and the deeply personal journey of believing God for children.
In Discerning a Spouse God’s Way, Patrick Omukhango explores biblical wisdom for one of life’s most consequential decisions. Titus Otieno’s Seven Keys for Engaged Men speaks to men preparing for the covenant and responsibility of marriage. Doris Mitti, meanwhile, walks alongside women and couples in Waiting With Hope for Those Believing God for a Child.
Faith That Goes to Work With Us
September’s Business & Leadership selection explores what happens when purpose meets process—and when leadership remains teachable.
Richard Mwebesa’s Embracing God's Process, Purpose, and Power encourages readers to recognise that God’s preparation is often as significant as the destination.
In Called to Be Mentored - Mentoring Series, Kingston Ogango turns attention towards the often-underrated discipline of allowing others to teach, shape and challenge us.
And Dr. John Mbugua’s Retirement Is Not the End asks whether retirement is really withdrawal from purpose—or simply another season in which wisdom and experience can still serve others.
Faith for the Everyday Believer
The Christian Living category focuses on the language we use, the seasons in which we wait and the truths that bring us closer to God.
Valerian Vanessa’s The Beauty of the Winning Language considers the relationship between words, faith and perspective.
Rehema C Batti, in The Waiting Well, speaks into a spiritual discipline few people volunteer for: waiting. The plan invites believers to consider how seasons of delay can become seasons of formation rather than frustration.
Richard Mwebesa returns with Levers of Truth, exploring principles designed to strengthen Christian maturity and intimacy with God.
When Testimony Becomes Discipleship
Read With Me continues to make space for personal stories because sometimes we understand a biblical truth differently after seeing how somebody else had to live it.
The September Biographies & Testimonies selection includes Rooted in Love, Raised by Grace and The Gap Beneath the Surface by Zinhle Buthelezi, alongside That Nudge was God: Learning to Pay Attention by Dr. Muthoni.
Together, these plans explore family, grace, unseen struggles and the subtle ways God can guide a life.
That Nudge was God particularly invites readers to pay closer attention to those moments that are easy to dismiss—the inner prompting, unexpected conviction or quiet direction that, in retrospect, may have been God leading all along.
Making Room for the Weary Heart
Mental and emotional wellbeing also receives intentional attention in September.
Alison Kiriinya’s Steady Hearts in Shaky Seasons: A 5-Day Journey Through Psalm 37 takes readers into Scripture for stability when circumstances feel anything but stable.
Jackline Ingasian addresses emotional exhaustion through Rekindled: Encourage Weary Hearts Battling Burnout, while Angela Nsimbi’s Find Wholeness Beyond Rejection: The ‘Unloved’ Wife speaks into rejection, identity and the journey towards emotional and spiritual wholeness.
The aim is not to pretend that a devotional removes every difficult circumstance. Rather, these plans create room for Scripture to enter the places where people are already wrestling, grieving, waiting, questioning and rebuilding.
